Mosaic Mural Lecture/Demonstration
Join us for a lecture and live demonstration as nationally recognized tile artist Marlo Bartels works on the repair and restoration of his tile mosaic Skyline Mural. Commissioned in 1987 for the Home Savings of America building in Graceland Shopping Center, the 8 ft. x 12 ft. mural was rescued before the building was demolished and installed on the front facade of Clinton Elementary School. The vibrant mural that features the 1987 Columbus skyline bordered by motifs of Ohio’s heritage and wildlife was moved indoors and installed in the school cafeteria where it awaits needed repairs.
Don’t miss this rare opportunity to see art restoration in action and to meet the California-based artist. See more examples of Marlo Bartel’s work at http://www.marlobartels.com
This free event is made possible by Columbus City Schools, Ohio Craft Museum and Columbus Landmarks’ Home Preservation Program. Donations will be accepted to establish a fund to help maintain the mural.
Parking is available in the lot east of the school, accessed from East North Broadway.
