$10 Members/$15 Non-Members
Columbus Landmarks and Friends of Green Lawn Cemetery are pleased to offer these quarterly, seasonal tours that focus on both the art of Green Lawn Cemetery and the botanical features of this very special park. Green Lawn is Central Ohio’s preeminent 19th century cemetery and reflects the Rural Cemetery Movement. Green Lawn encompasses more than 200 years of Columbus history, stories, and architectural preferences, and is home to champion trees, diverse old growth species, and wildlife.
The autumn walk with a naturalist (Randy Rogers) and a historian (Doreen Uhas Sauer) will be held on Sunday, October 28th, 2-4 p.m. The traditional tour route will take us to some of the most notable and oldest gravesites along the ridge where Sullivants, Neils, and Swans rest, as well as to the recently installed Washington Gladden marker that is part of a social justice and civil rights walking tour. We will also visit the pond to admire some of the recently completed restoration work.
Meet at the Huntington Chapel, located past the office at the end of the road. Tickets are $10 for Friends of Green Lawn and/or Columbus Landmarks members and $15 for non-members.
