Clinton Theater Demolished

Columbus Landmarks participated in multiple meetings related to the demolition of the Clinton Theater. Located in the Clintonville neighborhood, the c.1920 Classical Revival style building was underutilized and the owner was faced with city fines. In cooperation with the Columbus Foundation, the National Trust’s Midwest Office, and the Clintonville Historical Society, Columbus Landmarks obtained funding for a structural report for the building.
In spite of Columbus Landmarks securing funds for structural analysis and the analysis concluding that the building was structurally sound and had adaptive use potential, the Clintonville Area Commission voted unanimously to approve the owner’s demolition application. The theater was demolished in October 2010.
